  Visit to Haiti

January, 2005

As has been our parish practice since the year 2000, someone from our parish makes a pilgrimage during January.  This time it was Joe LaFleche who journeyed with a group from  Holy Angels Parish in Upton.  In addition, while there, a celebration was held for Connie Barna who had resigned as diocesan director of the Apostolate.  These are pictures Joe took on his trip

A view of the beautiful mountains and majestic sky in Haiti. A shot of the magnificent coastline. A view of a typical market in any town.
Another view of the fruits & vegetables for sale. Bargaining taking place - notice the trash lying in the gutter beyond the group. Another market exchange on a typical day in a typical town.
Fr. Charlie, an Oblate in Les Cayes, assisted by Fr. Larry of Upton, MA and a Haitian priest. The congregation assembled in the courtyard of KSP for Mass. Communion, a view from above.
Innocent presents Connie with a gift to express the community's appreciation of her work. Innocent & Eve Rose bring out the goodies - this is rice surrounded with lobster. A close up of thedelicacy.
The boys of FJ gather for a session with Roudy. Joe gets served! Making music on the roof of KSP!
A budding blues brother in Haiti! The boys in the living room at FJ having fun with balloons from a visitorfrom Upton. Our illustrious alumni of FJ, some of whom still live at KPP.
Wolfie at eight months. Our usual outing to the beach for a swim and a meal. A favorite is American soda.
Our trio of leaders:  from the left, Tony, Wilnes & Connie. Three great leaders and tremendous support for our work. Joe & Wolfie enjoy some time together. From the left:  Wilnes, Joe & Wolfie, another fine trio!
