Mission Statement

Saint Mary’s Haiti Ministry Committee

March 22, 2002

Since 1995, Saint Mary’s Parish has a twinning covenant with the Fraternite des Juenes in Les Cayes, Haiti.  We are committed to keeping the promises of our covenant established through the Diocese of Worcester.  Our ministry is to deepen the bond between our parish and the boys by sharing those resources that support and care for the boys, as well as raises the consciousness of the parish to be more aware of the need for peace and justice in Haiti.

Goals and Objectives:

To keep our covenant and fulfill our mission, this committee establishes the following as goals and objectives:

 1.                 To build a bridge between our boys and our parish.

 2.                 To assist our boys by providing resources that will enable each one to provide for himself upon leaving the Fraternite.

 3.                 The parish and its members will sponsor minimally an annual pilgrimage to Les Cayes to make face-to-face contact and side-by-side service to our boys.

 4.                 To maintain the Make Change for Haiti program in Trinity Catholic Academy and the Religious Education Program as a youth-to-youth effort that will provide a gift each month for our boys who celebrate their birthday that month.

 5.                 To sponsor an annual event (e.g. dinner, auction, etc.) with the dual purpose of raising funds for the boys’ home as well as educating and informing the parish about our twinning project.

6.                 Through weekend liturgies, the bulletin, and parish activities, to promote the needs and progress of our mission to the parish.

7.                 To encourage our parish to meet special needs of our boys or their home as the need may arise.
