With the floors poured at the beginning of January, work was steady through the winter.  Eventually in April our cold difficult weather finally broke and the wrapping was removed from the building.  Following that the roof was secured and the skylights and gables constructed.  Some of those photos have misplaced at this time, when they are found, they will be posted.  In the meantime, as of May 1st, the following pictures are photos from this stage of our construction.

A view of the atrium over the main stairway at the second floor landing.  To the left the elevator will be located. A look at the skylight and roof of the chapel looking toward the parking lot.  The gable at the far end will be covered in painted metal and capped with a cross. This will be the conference room.  The windows overlook the parking lot and the school area. This is the main office area, for the secretaries and pastor.  The windows overlook the area next to the rectory that will be a playground for the school.

A view of the chapel from inside.  The opening at the top is a skylight, the window looks out to the church beyond. This room is at the front of the building and is housed in the gable that faces Hamilton St. This is the other end of that same room with the gable.  Beyond is the roof, to the left stairs. This is a corridor that will lead to offices on the second floor that will overlook Hamilton St. This is an area of classrooms that faces the school and adjacent to the gable at the front.

This area is on the second floor and will be classrooms that will face the parking lot. This area is in the basement.  The openings beyond are windows facing the rectory. Around the corner from the photo at left is this remainder of the room looking toward some closets at the back of the room. This room will house our Food Pantry organized and run by Saint Vincent de Paul.  Larger and with easier access we hope to improve service.

A view of the side of building as it faces the rectory showing the three levels.  The parking lot is beyond the building The chapel end near the parking lot.  The peak of this gable will hold the cross removed from the building lost in the fire. A photo of the electrical panels in the basement of the new building. This will service all of the electrical needs of our building, including air conditioning. A view of the area that is outside the school's cafeteria door and under the terrace.  This passageway will enable handicap access to the cafeteria. The materials for the construction of the elevator arrive and are stored inside the entrance from the parking lot. A look at the beginnings of the elevator with the brace at the base of the shaft that will support the box of the elevator.

A view from the front of the rectory as the building becomes enclosed and the finishes applied. A view of the building from the parking lot.  The roof line is taking shape with the installation of the painted trim. A view over the chapel showing the skylight and the metal cap to the left which will be over the sanctuary of the new worship space. One of the auxiliary items of the master plan was the relocation of a garage.  Here, looking toward Pine St, the first floor takes shape.

From the side facing the rectory, the two stalls become apparent. A view from the second floor of the new building shows the progress on the garage. The front of the second floor is raised in place. The back wall of the second floor is secured.

Another view of the garage as the walls take shape. A view from the other side as the second floor is constructed. The beam at the point is installed and secured. The beam is readied for the rafters to hold the roof.

A view of the garage after the pouring of the floors.  To the left of the garage is the pad for the dumpsters for trash. A view of the elevator as it takes shape on the main floor of the new center. A look up at the maze of piping that winds its way through the building for heating, plumbing and drainage. Missing a couple of doors, the garage is almost done!  To the right is a backup generator for the new center.

A view from the side of the completed garage.  The cement pad to the left is for the dumpsters. The stone facing starts to climb up the wall outside the chapel area. The inside hall gets a finishing touch.  Beyond the wall is the chapel area. The empty boxed area is left for the cornerstone.  Beyond the wall will be the main office.

A corner near the school gets faced with stone.  The parking lot lies beyond. A look at the freight elevator after its delivery.  Waiting for installation, it is protected from the rain. A view of the terrace area, waiting for a finish coat of cement and aluminum grids around the edges.  To the front left is the space for the freight elevator. The front of the building facing Hamilton Street is another area where the chapelstone has been installed already.

On June 28th, bishop Reilly placed the cornerstone for the building.  It is a piece of granite salvaged from the building lost in the fire.  For photos click here With the stone almost completely in place, the back corner nearest the school shapes up, ready for the installation of the windows. A view of the offices and classrooms outside wall that faces the rectory.  This is the first wall completely finished in the stone work. The front of the building as it faces Hamilton Street begins to take shape and a finished appearance of the building comes into focus.
